SERVICES FOR ADULTS

Sometimes life becomes really hard and challenging and we find ourselves struggling to cope.

There are a host of reasons why people come to counselling. Whatever prompts you to seek support you can be assured that you will be listened to in confidence, with care and without judgement.

It can often help to explore issues with someone who is trained to listen and who has no other role in your life. Counselling can help you to feel better about yourself, consequently it can have a beneficial effect on all of your relationships. Counselling could be considered as a therapeutic conversation.

I believe that no specific counselling method can provide the 'magic 'answer. We are all unique individuals in our own right who present with different problems, from different backgrounds and in different situations. With this in mind I adopt an integrative or eclectic approach which means I can draw from a knowledge of a variety of counselling methods which can be tailored to meet every person's individual holistic needs. Examples of some of the approaches I utilise:

  • Cognitive behavioural therapy

  • Person centred approach

  • Family therapy

  • Solution focused brief therapy

  • Psychodynamic therapy

  • Rewind technique

  • Humanistic therapy

  • Coaching

More information on types of therapy can be found on the BACP website
